Based on the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the ECJ judgment on cookies (on 1st October 2019) we have updated our data protection information. The following information will inform you about how we handle your personal data. We adhere to the strict provisions of German data protection law and the requirements of the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) so that you can rely on transparent and secure data processing.
The provisions of the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the regulations of the Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG) apply as a private company. We consider it our primary task to maintain the confidentiality of the personal data you provide and to protect it from unauthorized access. Therefore, we apply the utmost care and the latest security standards to ensure maximum protection of your personal data. We have taken technical and organizational measures to ensure data protection.
If you would like to find out more about data protection and the security of all websites hosted by IWW, please click on our declaration of data protection.
In principle, the MULTI-ReUse website can be used without registering. In addition, you are free to surf the web anonymously in various browsers in incognito mode / private windows. Here you can define and control the privacy settings yourself, i.e. which data is stored by you and which of your activities are visible.
Collection of personal data on our website
When you visit our website, we collect data. Personal data is e.g. name, address, email-address or user behavior.
If you contact us by email or via the contact form, the data you provide (your email-address, your name and your telephone number, etc.) will be saved by us to answer your questions. We delete the data arising in this context after the storage is no longer necessary or the processing is restricted (if there are statutory retention requirements).
When you use the website for information purposes only, i.e. if you do not register or otherwise provide us with information, we only collect the personal data that your browser automatically transmits to our server. This is technically necessary for us to display our website to you and to ensure stability and security for the display (legal basis is Article 6, Paragraph 1 of the GDPR):
- Date and time of the request
- Time zone difference to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT)
- Content of the request (specific page)
- Access Status / HTTP status code
- Amount of data transferred in each case
- Website from which the request comes
- Browser
- Operating system and its surface
- Language and version of the browser software
The website of the MULTI-ReUse project therefore automatically records a series of technically required data and information each time you look it up. However, all access to our website is temporarily anonymized in the server’s log files, without reference to a specific, identifiable IP address, and it is only temporarily stored. These data are not assignable to any persons. This data is not merged with other data sources. We reserve the right to check this data retrospectively if we become aware of specific indications of illegal use though.
Use of cookies
In addition to the aforementioned data, so-called cookies are generated when you visit our website. Cookies are small text files that are stored on your computer and saved by your browser. They cannot run programs or transmit viruses to your computer. They serve to make the internet more user-friendly and effective overall. The websites setting the cookie can read out certain information from cookies such as “session cookies”, which makes it possible to recognize your browser the next time you visit and thus guarantee an optimal display of our website in your browser.
This website uses the following types of cookies, the scope and functionality of which are briefly explained here:
- Transient cookies
- Persistent cookies
Transient cookies are automatically deleted when you close the browser. Most of the cookies we use are so-called “session cookies”, which are automatically deleted at the end of your visit.
Persistent cookies, cookies that remain stored on your device, are either automatically deleted after a specified period, which may differ depending on the cookie. Or you can actively delete these cookies yourself via the security settings of your browser.
You can set your browser so that you are informed about the setting of cookies and only allow cookies in individual cases. You also can exclude the acceptance of cookies in certain cases or in general and activate the automatic deletion of cookies when the browser is closed. You can configure your browser settings according to your wishes. You also can refuse to accept third-party cookies or all cookies. So-called. “Third party cookies” are cookies that have been set by a third party, and not by the actual website, which you are currently viewing.
We would like to point out that by deactivating cookies you may not be able to use all functions of this website.
Information, deletion, blocking
If the processing of the personal data is based on the consent given, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time and to request confirmation from the person responsible as to whether and how we process your personal data.
If personal data is processed, you can obtain information about your data at any time. You have the right to correct, block or delete your data. You can find more information on this in our data protection declaration on our IWW website.
Registration on our website
You have the opportunity to register on our website by providing personal data, your email address. The personal data you enter will only be collected and stored for internal use by the controller and for your own purposes. The controller can arrange for the transfer to one or more processors, for example a parcel service provider, who also uses the personal data exclusively for internal use, which is attributable to the controller.
By registering on our website, we also save the IP address assigned by the Internet service provider (ISP), the date and the time of registration. This data is stored against the background that the misuse of our services can only be prevented in this way and, if necessary, this data enables crimes committed to be investigated. In this respect, the storage of this data is necessary to secure the data controller in our company. In principle, this data will not be passed on to third parties unless there is a legal obligation to pass it on or the passing on is used for prosecution.
Your registration is voluntary, and your data is used by the controller to offer you content or services that, due to the nature of the matter, can only be offered to registered users. Registered persons are free to change the personal data provided during registration at any time or to have them completely deleted from the database of the controller.
The controller in our company will provide each person with information on which personal data about the person is stored at any time on request. Furthermore, the person responsible for processing, corrects or deletes personal data at the request or advice of the person, provided that there are no statutory retention requirements. The entire staff of the controller is available as a contact person in this context.
Subscription to our newsletter
On the website of our collaborative project MULTI-ReUse, users are given the opportunity to subscribe to the newsletter or project updates. Which personal data are transmitted to the person responsible for processing in our company when you sign up for the newsletter/updates results from the input mask used for this purpose.
We inform our registered visitors in a newsletter about the current project status, events and news about the joint project. You can only receive our newsletter if (1) you have a valid email address and (2) you have registered to receive the newsletter. For legal reasons, a confirmation email will be sent to the email address you entered for the first time for sending the newsletter in a double opt-in procedure. This confirmation email is used to check whether the owner of the email address as the person concerned has authorized the receipt of the newsletter.
When registering for the newsletter, we also save the IP address assigned by the Internet service provider (ISP) at the time of registration of the computer system used, as well as the date and time of registration. The collection of this data is necessary in order to be able to understand the (possible) misuse of the e-mail address of a person at a later point in time and therefore serves to provide legal protection for the controller.
The personal data collected when you register for the newsletter will only be used to send our newsletter. In addition, subscribers to the newsletter could be informed by email if this is necessary for the operation of the newsletter service or for a registration in this regard, as could be the case in the event of changes to the newsletter offer or changes in the technical circumstances. The personal data collected as part of the newsletter service is not passed on to third parties. You can unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time. The consent to the storage of personal data that you have given us for sending the newsletter can be revoked at any time. For the purpose of withdrawing consent, there is a corresponding link in every newsletter. There is also the option to unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time directly via our editorial team, see imprint.
